By the numbers

Warmer weather and a dryer climate are two things that might draw seniors to Arizona, a state with over 1.1 million Medicare beneficiaries. Here are a few facts about Medicare enrollment in Arizona:

  • Total number of beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare in Arizona: 1, 118, 890
  • Total number of Arizona beneficiaries with Medicare Part A and/or Part B: 685, 835
  • Total number of beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Part C in Arizona: 433, 055
  • Arizona beneficiaries with Medicare prescription drug coverage (Medicare Part D): 798, 358
  • Arizona beneficiaries enrolled in a stand-alone Medicare Prescription Drug Plan: 383, 601

Medicare Advantage plans and Prescription Drug Plan sponsors must have a contract with Medicare in order to sell Medicare insurance plans (such as a Medicare HMO or a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan). Depending on the terms of the contract between the plan and Medicare, not every plan is available statewide or in all service areas. Each year, the plan must renew their contract with Medicare, so the availability of a plan in a specific service area is subject to change as a result of the annual contract renewal.
