Humana Part D
Humana Medicare Part D Plans
Eligible Medicare beneficiaries can enroll in a Medicare Part D plan to help cover the costs of their prescription drugs. These plans are offered through private insurance companies, so the cost and availability of each may vary by location and organization. One option that beneficiaries may have is to enroll in a Humana Medicare Part D plan.
Eligible individuals may have the option of enrolling in one of three different types of Humana Medicare Part D plans: Humana Walmart-Preferred Rx Plan (PDP), Humana Enhanced (PDP), or Humana Complete (PDP). Additionally, beneficiaries may enroll in a Humana Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plan to receive their creditable drug coverage. Availability of each of these Part D plans offered by Humana differs by location.
Humana Walmart-Preferred Rx Plan (PDP)
One type of Humana Medicare Part D plans available is the Humana Walmart-Preferred Rx Plan. Humana and Walmart teamed up to offer prescription drug savings to those who qualify. These plans generally require an out-of-pocket monthly premium to be paid before coverage begins. You must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premium. Other costs may include copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance payments. After you reach your plan deductible, you may only be responsible for a low copayment on certain covered generic drugs. The Humana Walmart-Preferred Rx Plan covers a large variety of generic medications. Other pharmacies are available in our network.
Humana Enhanced (PDP)
Beneficiaries also have the option of enrolling in a Humana Enhanced Prescription Drug Plan (PDP), which offers more than a basic set of prescription drug coverage. This plan has no deductible, but does require a monthly premium. You must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premium. Coverage applies to prescription medications attained in retail pharmacies and through mail orders, and may require copayments. There are several pharmacies nationwide participate in the network for these Humana Medicare Part D plans.
Humana Complete (PDP)
Another type of available Humana Medicare Part D plan is Humana Complete Prescription Drug Plan (PDP). With this plan, there is no deductible, meaning that the plan provides first dollar coverage of prescription medications. This coverage extends up to the federal government's catastrophic limit. Additional out-of-pocket expenses may include fixed co-payments, monthly premiums, and co-insurance payments. Humana Complete covers many of the costs associated with medications in the coverage gap.
Because there are so many options available for beneficiaries to enroll in prescription drug coverage, including Humana Medicare Part D plans, it is recommended that you shop around and compare plans in your area to be sure that your necessary drugs are covered in your plan's formulary and that you stay within your financial limits with out-of-pocket expenses.
