Is hiring a home health aide covered by Medicare?

If you're eligible for home health care and are also getting skilled care, such as skilled nursing care or other therapy from a home health agency, Original Medicare, Part A and Part B, will cover home health aide services on a part-time or intermittent basis. Typically, a home health aide does not have a nursing license and provides support services for skilled nursing care. These services include help with personal care, such as bathing, using the toilet, or dressing.

To get Medicare coverage for this, the home health aide services must be part of the care for your illness or injury.
